El Jebel is a census-designated place located in Eagle County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 4,488. The community is located in the Roaring Fork Valley, between Carbondale and Basalt, along the north side of Colorado State Highway 82. The community grew rapidly in the last two decades of the 20th century with the population increase in the valley downstream from Aspen. It consists largely of a group of commercial establishments just off Highway 82, approximately 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Basalt, as well as several housing subdivisions nearby.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.5 km² (6.7 mi²). 17.4 km² (6.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.15% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,488 people, 1,433 households, and 1,071 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 257.5/km² (667.0/mi²). There are 1,483 housing units at an average density of 85.1/km² (220.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 87.79% White, 0.09% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.96% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 8.98% from other races, and 1.89% from two or more races. 29.84% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,433 households out of which 49.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.5% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% are non-families. 13.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.12 and the average family size is 3.38.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 30.6% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 38.3% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 2.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 108.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 112.1 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $60,685, and the median income for a family is $62,047. Males have a median income of $37,073 versus $29,688 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $21,261. 9.4% of the population and 6.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 8.0% of those under the age of 18 and 15.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
