Eeklo is a municipality in the province of East Flanders, in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium. The municipality only comprises the city of Eeklo proper. On January 1st, 2004 Eeklo had a total population of 19,234 (9,462 males and 9,772 females). The total area is 30.05 km² which gives a population density of 640.15 inhabitants per km².
It is twinned with the town of Newbury in the United Kingdom.
