Creatures Docking Station is the free, online version of the computer game Creatures, and the newest yet. It is an artificial life game, where the player takes care of highly advanced creatures called Norns, Ettins and Grendels. The game can be "docked" with Creatures 3. There are both Windows and Linux versions of both Docking Station and Creatures 3 available. The Linux version of Creatures Internet Edition (Creatures 3 plus Docking Station) is published by Linux Game Publishing.
After the user has registered at the Creatures network, and done all the steps needed to play online in the game, the player can create a world and register it.
To go online in the game, the player needs to click the red button next to the Creature Indicator. Players can chat and mail other players, all in game. The highlight of the game is that you can send Norns to other users ingame, realtime.
The windows DirectX version can be slow on older computers. Docking Station, like Creatures 3 has the problem of grinding to a snail's pace if there are any more than three or four norns. The zipped version of the Docking Station installer comes with the SDL version. Use the normal installer then extract all the SDL versions and copy them to the game directory. Replace all the old files and everything should be much faster.
