Dhi Qar

Dhi Qar (Arabic: ذي قار) is a governorate in Iraq with an area of 12,900 km². In 2003 the estimated population of the governorate was 1,454,200 people. The governorate's capital is the city of Nasiriyah.
A proposal to join Dhi Qar with the governorates of Basra and Maysan to form a southeastern state in an eventual Iraqi federation is currently in the talking stages.[1] (http://www.kurdmedia.com/news.asp?id=6943)
