Dexter is a census-designated place located in Penobscot County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,201.
Geography
Dexter is located at 45°1'14" North, 69°17'32" West (45.020594, -69.292374)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.8 km² (5.3 mi²). 12.3 km² (4.8 mi²) of it is land and 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 10.86% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,201 people, 968 households, and 623 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 178.5/km² (462.3/mi²). There are 1,151 housing units at an average density of 93.4/km² (241.8/mi²).
