Dennis Prager

Dennis Mark Prager (born August 2, 1948) is a syndicated radio host, columnist and public speaker in the United States. Though he sometimes describes himself as "passionate centrist" or a "JFK liberal", Prager consistently speaks in favor of conservative causes, and is a partisan advocate for the Republican party; he also routinely attacks the Democratic party leadership.
Although Prager is a member of the Jewish faith, he admires Christian communities and identifies especially with the moral and ethical tenets of the Christian religion.
Prager often presents his political positions in moral terms. Prager argues that monotheistic religion is essential to civil society, and that most modern domestic and international crises stem from the absence of religious values in American life. A cursory reading of his work reveals that Prager finds fault with many Muslim values, and deems Muslim society and culture as generally unethical. He does not consider Islam among the virtuous traditions.
In his articles, broadcasts, and speeches, Prager accuses liberals of promoting a culture of "moral idiocy". He charges the "liberal institutions" in America (he includes the ACLU, evolutionists, universities, student protestors, trial lawyers, activist judges, and the editors of the New York Times) with causing a breakdown in American society and effecting a lamentable status quo which he dubs "the Age of Stupidity". He believes that Western Europe and Canada suffer from "a broken moral compass" and that leftist policies in those countries have changed their societies into "moral wastelands". He posits that foreign liberal policies are exerting a negative influence on the United States. Prager claims that the US is engaged in what he describes as "our second civil war"; a battle between religious and secular values.
His flagship online article "Are You a Liberal?" (http://www.dennisprager.com/areyouliberal.html) has drawn criticism for what some see as an attempt to marginalize liberalism by means of generalizations and straw man fallacies.
Since May 2005 he's been a contributing blogger at The Huffington Post.
Prager has written several books, including:
- Nine Questions People ask about Judaism
- Why the Jews? The Reason for Antisemitism
- Happiness Is a Serious Problem: A Human Nature Repair Manual
- Think A Second Time (a collection of short essays on various topics)
