Dell Inspiron is the brand used by Dell Computer for their line aimed at the consumer market (as opposed to the Dell Latitude). Current models include the 1200,2200,4000,700m, 600m, 6000, 9300 and XPS Gen3.
Display resolution problems
Some Inspiron laptops with SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) displays are reported to have problems when running other operating systems than Windows. The video BIOS does not list SXGA+ among the possible resolutions available, and users are thus unable to switch to this resolution. Fourunately, there is a patch called 855resolution availble that fixes this problem in unix based operating systems.
