Delayed release
|
A company may choose to delay a product release in order to achieve an action from a consumer such as:
- Monetary support from the consumer to release early
- Convince the consumer to order one of their higher-end products.
- Maximize product sells by releasing the product when competing products are no longer new.
Examples in Software Release
Software companies are often seen using this approach. Many of them offer a free version of their software product that is updated very often while their commercial version is constantly updated to convince the consumer to buy the commercial version instead of the easily out-of-date free version.
