A communauté d'agglomération is a metropolitan governement structure in France, created by the Loi Chevénement in 1999. A communauté d'Agglomération consist of a center city commune of more than 50 000 inhabitants, or a prefecture, and its suburbs.
Metrpolitan governement in France also include the communautés de communes and bigger communautés urbaines.
