Colfax Township is a civil township in Wexford County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 763.

Meauwataka is a small unincorporated community in the township at Template:Coor dms. The FIPS place code is 52740 and the elevation is 1370 feet above sea level.
Michigan State Highway 42 traverses the northern part of the township east-west. The city of Manton is about three miles east of township on M-42 and the village of Mesick is about seven miles west on M-42. The city of Cadillac is several miles south-southeast, but without any direct routes.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 91.8 km² (35.5 mi²). 91.5 km² (35.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.39% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 763 people, 286 households, and 229 families residing in the township. The population density is 8.3/km² (21.6/mi²). There are 411 housing units at an average density of 4.5/km² (11.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.74% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.13% from two or more races. 0.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 286 households out of which 34.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.2% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.9% are non-families. 17.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the township the population is spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who are 65 years of age or older.
