Colesville is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area located in Montgomery County, Maryland in the USA.
Geography
As an unincorporated area, Colesville's boundaries are not officially defined. Colesville is, however, recognized by the United States Census Bureau as a Census-designated Place, and by the United States Geological Survey as a populated place located at 39°4'47" North, 77°0'12" West (39.079695, -77.003263)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the place has a total area of 23.9 km² (9.2 mi²). 23.9 km² (9.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
From east to west, Colesville is known to extend from Northwest Branch to Paint Branch, both creeks feeding into the Anacostia River. Its north to south boundaries, however, are less well-delineated. It has generally been assumed to extend from Valley Brook Drive in the Springbrook area to the northern end of the Stonegate subdivision. Newly placed signs along New Hampshire Avenue, however, delineate that boundary closer in - possibly to mark the edge of C4 (The Colesville Council of Community Congregations), a neighborhood association which, as of yet, does not include every community in historical Colesville.
