Coheed and Cambria

The band comprises four members: Claudio Sanchez (vocals/guitar), Travis Stever (guitar), Michael Todd (bass), and Josh Eppard (drums). The band's original name was Shabutie. Coheed and Cambria was started as a side project by Claudio, and decided to change Shabutie to their current name because he liked it so much better. Shabutie did release an EP that can serve as the first part of the quadrilogy, and until an album is released that fills this void in the sequence, the album will serve as the base of the story.
Coheed and Cambria's music is often compared to that of Rush, partly because of lead singer Sanchez's impressive vocal range, and Yes, partly because of the intracacy and "dueling" style of guitar work. Their technical precision, terse rhythmic phrases and the advanced compostional structures of songs evoke earlier similarly crafted rock. Story elements and melodic themes are cohesively wrought throughout their albums to date. Co&Ca are the most visible arbiters of a new sort of "prog-rock opera" style for the 2000s. Notably, though, the futuristic sci-fi storyline from which all their music is based harkens back to the epic sound and feel of 1970s progressive-rock.

The Coheed and Cambria Story
The story of Coheed and Cambria exists in its entirety, at present, in the mind of frontman Claudio Sanchez. Beyond what he has specifically stated, what is mentioned on the albums, and what is written in the first comic book released, is speculation. Comic books are in the process of being released, each book covering the span of one or two of the band's songs. The first comic book, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, explains the events transpiring during the first two tracks of the band's album of the same name. It is written by Claudio and illustrated by Wes Abbot. The second comic book is slated for a March 2005 release. The first comic will be released for sale in comic book stores in February 2005. See The Bag On Line Adventures for more.
