Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Ph.D. is a mythopoetic women's movement figure. She maintains a friendly correspondence with Robert Bly. Her book Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype (ISBN 0345377443) is to be considered a women's equivalent of Robert Bly's Iron John: A Book About Men (1990 ISBN 0201517205). Her book Women Who Run With the Wolves was praised by the same Gloria Steinem who condemned Robert Bly.
