Ciudad Madero
|
Ciudad Madero is a city in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. The city is located at 22.27°N, 97.83°W, just south and east of Tampico but still on the banks of the Rio Panuco, and forming part of the conurbation that includes the cities of Tampico and Altamira. Ciudad Madero is named after Mexican president and hero Francisco I. Madero. In 2003 the estimated population of Ciudad Madero was about 190,000 people.
The citizens of Tampico often consider that Cd.Madero is merely a rump of their own municipality - this leads to much local jesting and civic pride. Madero has the beach areas and so gains from tourist and hotel revenue.Template:Mexico-geo-stub
