The Citroën C5 is the medium segment car in the Citroën range, available as a saloon (sedan) or estate (wagon). It replaced the Xantia in early 2001, and is a key rival to the Ford Mondeo and Renault Laguna.
The C5 is powered by 1.8 L, 2.0 L and 3.0 L petrol engines as well as a 2.2 L direct injection diesel engine with 140 hp (104 kW). A comfortable interior and smooth ride give the C5 appeal, although it is not widely regarded as the best-handling large family saloon in Europe. Customer satisfaction motoring survey performances could also be better.
It features the latest version of Citroën's famous hydropneumatic suspension.
In 2004, the C5 got a major facelift (new front and rear ends; same centre section) to bring it into line with the look of the new Citroën C4.
