Chris McKinstry (born February 12, 1967) is a pioneer of public distributed artificial intelligence. He founded the Mindpixel project in July of 2000. Previous to Mindpixel, he led the development of the MISTIC project which was launched in May of 1996.
McKinstry is a Canadian citizen born in Winnipeg who presently lives in Santiago de Chile.
He is a reformed computer hacker and former Very Large Telescope operator for the European Southern Observatory in Chile. He was a contestent in the last season of the Canadian game show Reach for the Top in 1984, the same show on which Canadian born Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek got his start.
