Christopher Keith Irvine (born November 9, 1970), better known as Chris Jericho, is a professional wrestler currently working for World Wrestling Entertainment in its RAW brand. Jericho was born in Manhasset, New York, but was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His father Ted Irvine is a former NHL player. Chris Jericho probably got his stage name of Jericho from the ancient city of Jericho, the city that the Israelites/Jews destroyed with their shouting and God's power. Hence, the reason why his finishing move is called the Walls of Jericho and his theme song begins with the line, "Break the Walls down."

Career
Jericho trained at the Hart brothers' pro-wrestling camp in Calgary, Alberta from June to September 1990. Between his professional debut on October 2, 1990 and the summer of 1996 he worked for many small wrestling companies, including Bay Area Wrestling, the World Wrestling Association, the Catch Wrestling Alliance, Smoky Mountain Wrestling ,where he was briefly involved in a tag team called "The Thrillseekers" with Lance Storm and Extreme Championship Wrestling. He also wrestled at one time for the the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, the oldest promotion in pro wrestling. In August 1996 he made his first appearance with World Championship Wrestling and on September 15 of that year he appeared at his first pay per view show, versus Chris Benoit. His biggest feuds while in WCW included Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Syxx, Alex Wright and Eddie Guerrero. His feud with Bill Goldberg was nixed because Goldberg did not care for the humour that Jericho included in his feuds.
Jericho alternated between WCW and a number of Japanese tours until his debut with the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) on August 9, 1999 as a heel when he interrupted The Rock. Later Jericho turned face by siding with the fans. After the WCW/ECW alliance broke up Jericho turned heel again by turning on The Rock. These two ended up having a big rivalry with each other during that time. On December 9, 2001, during his tenure with the company, Chris Jericho found the highlight of his career when he defeated both The Rock and Steve Austin in the same night to become the first ever WWE Undisputed Champion. He was on SmackDown! at first then drafted to RAW. He later was slowly having a face turn and he finally turned face again by turning his back on RAW GM Eric Bischoff, by telling him, "Why don't you shut the hell up, Bischoff." and everyone was cheering. Of course Bischoff hooked him in a match against then heel, Kane. Jericho lost thanks to Kane's powerful Chokeslam. Jericho, John Cena and Christian will fight for the championship at Vengeance in a triple threat match.
Jericho was inducted into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame on September 25, 1997. On July 5, 2004 he was awarded the Order of the Buffalo Hunt, the highest award given by the Province of Manitoba.
Besides being a professional wrestler, Jericho has a degree in journalism and is the frontman of the heavy metal group Fozzy. He also writes a semi-regular column for Metal Edge magazine.
Jericho also started his own weekly XM radio show, in March 2005, called "the Rock of Jericho."
