Chris Bambery is the editor of Socialist Worker and a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Workers Party.
Originally from Scotland he began his political career as a member of the International Marxist Group in the 1970s. He became a full time organiser for the IMG in Glasgow until 1977 when he joined the SWP.
In the 1980s he moved to North London as an organiser for the SWP and was elected a member of its Central Committee and later National Organiser which he held to 2004 when he replaced the long serving Chris Harman as editor of Socialist Worker.
He led the International Socialist Tendency at the Genoa demonstration against the G8 in Italy in 2001 with Alex Callinicos.
He is the author of numerous books and articles including;
