Cho (Myst)

Cho is a native of Riven, an Age written by Gehn. 'Cho' is not his real name, which is not known, but how the players and Myst fans nicknamed him because of the first word he speaks when he first sees the Stranger. The meaning of the word 'cho' in the Rivenese language is unknown but it is probably an exclamation. Cho serves as Gehn's henchman and as the Stranger Links into Riven Cho is guarding the Link-in point.
As the Stranger Links into Riven he is trapped behind bars, and Cho comes up to inspect what he apparently expects to be another false alarm. Startled to see someone, Cho remembers his duty and starts talking to the Stranger in Rivenese, but then remembers that Gehn had taught him to demand the Linking Book from whoever Linked through in Gehn's native D'ni language. (Gehn was expecting his son Atrus to Link through instead.) Cho tries to remember the D'ni but cannot remember the exact words, and then gets frustrated and grabs the Book from the Stranger. As he is inspecting it, he is hit by a dart, and collapses to the ground.
The dart is shot by one of the Moeity (Rivenese natives who rebelled against Gehn). The Moeity member drags Cho away and drops him from a cliff, taking the Book, and then releases the Stranger before disappearing. Cho survives the drop, and is later seen in some of the "bad endings" of the Riven game with Gehn.
