Chiastic Slide
|
Template:Album infobox Chiastic Slide, released by Warp Records in 1997, is an album by the electronic music group Autechre. Like most releases under the Warp label, the album is in the style frequently referred to as Intelligent Dance Music. Other descriptions classify it as experimental music or experimental techno music.
Many music critics panned Chiastic Slide as being an underwhelming follow-up to 1995's groundbreaking Tri Repetae. However it is now clear that the album inspired subsequent Autechre releases such as 2001's Confield. Also contributing to its poor success was the fact that the album was not released in the United States concurrently with its release in the United Kingdom, and did not have a native American release until Warp Records opened up an American office in 2001. Now the album is cited as one of the underappreciated "forgotten" IDM albums of the 1990's.
Autechre remixed the fourth track on the album, "Cichli," on their subsequent EP Cichli Suite (1997) although the music on that release bears little resemblance to the original.
