Cheltenham, Victoria

Cheltenham is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is shared between the Local Government Areas of the City of Bayside and City of Kingston.
Cheltenham is approximately 21 km south-east from Melbourne's central business district. As a suburb, it was established in the 1880s. Much of the residential development was bulit in the 1940s and continued into the 1980s. Cheltenham also has a large industrial area featuring such companies as Fridgerite.
Cheltenham also has a large shopping centre to its north called Westfield Shoppingtown (Southland,) which was bulit in 1968. It has been continually expanded over the years resulting in a bridge across Nepean Highway containing shops across it.
For celebrity watchers, noted socialites Chris and Fiona Hill have recently moved to the area. They are planning to convert a run down group of houses into a private luxury spa.
