Charles Woodson

Charles Woodson (Born: October 7, 1976, Fremont, Ohio) is an National Football League player for the Oakland Raiders. He plays cornerback and has been named to the Pro Bowl numerous times. He helped lead the Raiders to the Super Bowl in 2003, where they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Woodson grew up in Fremont, Ohio, and attended the University of Michigan. There, he was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1995, made the All-America team in 1996, and then won the Heisman Trophy as the game's top player in 1997.
He became the first, and as of 2005 only, primarily defensive player to win the prestigious trophy. (In addition to playing cornerback, he returned punts and occasionally lined up as a wide receiver.) That year, his Michigan Wolverines went 12-0 and shared the national championship (with Nebraska). He then declared his eligibility for the NFL draft, and was selected 4th overall in the 1998 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. After Woodson's first season in the NFL he was named The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press.
