Charles Hardwicke

Captain Charles Browne Hardwicke (1788-1880) was an explorer, later a farmer. He was born in Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, England. He settled in Launceston, Tasmania in 1816. He is best known for his claim that Tasmania's north-west coast was "quite impenetrable and totally uninhabitable".
