Central Java

Central Java (Indonesian: Jawa Tengah) is a province of Indonesia. It lies on the island of Java, between the provinces of East Java and West Java. Its capital is Semarang. Historically and culturally, Yogyakarta is also a part of the Central Java region, but it is a separate political entity.
Some region in Central Java such as Surakarta (Solo) and Banyumasan has their own special identity based on their history, culture and language/dialect.
The population of Central Java is 30,851,144 (2000 census), making it the third most-populous province in Indonesia.
