Celt belt
|
Celtic belt, also known as the Celtic Fringe, the Celt belt refers to a geographical area on the western and northern fringes of Europe, mainly the British Isles, but also including Brittany.
In these areas farthest from mainland Europe the indigenous population was exposed to a lesser extent to the waves of foreign invasions suffered by the UK over the centuries, and Celtic traditions and languages have largely survived to this date.
An example of this is the film, The Wicker Man, which is about the alien and insular culture practiced in a Celtic-inspired enclave.
