(Requested is a disambiguation page, with the normal meaning talking about the mechanics of a cave in during mining or underground tunneling and prevention.)
Cave In is an alternative and metalcore band formed in 1995, in Methuen, Massachusetts.
The group's early work was considered to be more extreme and chaotic in the style of bands like Converge, but latterly their output appears to be influenced by a wider range of styles. Their 2003 album release Antenna has had more success than previous albums. Although albums preceding it had been alluding to melodic yearnings within the group, the throat injuries of lead vocalist Stephen Brodsky led to the group's present, more euphonious sound.
Much of their material has something to do with outer space, whether it's songs like Jupiter, their album name Antenna, or the kind of 'Space' guitar effects they use in their songs.
On the Lambgoat Message Board (http://www.lambgoat.com/mb/), the phrase "cave in" and variants thereof are used to denote those things that are considered "old news." This usage arose from the rumours which ran rampant in mid- to late-2003 that Cave In would be playing old songs; these rumours were eventually proven to be true.
Cave In is expected to release a new CD entitled "Perfect Pitch Black" this summer on Hydrahead.
