Opening Poem

The following poem appears at the start of the game:

When the moon is full and the trees are bare-
Walk through the Cemetery if you dare.
Where skeletons rot and corpses fester-
Locate to the tomb with the skull of a Jester.
Feed him a token all shiny and new-
It is then that CarnEvil will return for YOU!.

Story

You play an unnamed character who takes a ride on "Spooky Sam's Ghost Tour" with his girlfriend. He jumps off the cart when he arrives at a tomb with a Jester skull. According to the town legend, if you feed it the token which is located at the tomb, a hellish carnival will appear out of the cemetery. This character puts the token in the mouth of the jester. The Jester head then comes to life and flies around while the Evil Carnival appears out of the ground. The tomb is destroyed by a Shooting Gallery that appears from under it.

Welcome to..... CarnEvil!

Gameplay

Said to be "the most twisted video game ever" by the LA Weekly; CarnEvil lives up to this title. In this game you battle undead elves, fast food workers, freaks, and many others. The weapon is a shotgun which can be powered up to a machine gun, a double-blast shotgun, and a acid gun. The game is red stickered for a good reason. This game contains a lot of blood and gore, and I mean A LOT. There are also some disturbing things in this game that make this red stickered. For example, in the Rickety Town level (see below), you can hit a target that will have one of the zombie fast food workers fall in a pot of boiling oil and fried alive. The game contains 4 levels, an endless zombie army, and some cartoon-like antics.

Levels

This is a list of levels. Complete with information about the level and its bosses.

Haunted House

A haunted house ride complete with zombies, bats, grim reapers, spiders, and a bloody kitchen.

Bosses

  • Hambone: Large man in blue overalls and a checkered shirt, with a white mask and a gatling-gun arm. Parody of characters such as Jason Vorhees. He fires bullets from the gun, and later returns in the level to fire skulls from it.

Evil Marie: Parody of Bloody Mary, Evil Marie is an aristocratic ghost. She wields an axe which she can toss or slash at the player. Near the end of the fight, she also shoots fireballs from within a fountain of ethereal energy.

Rickety Town

The area where the rides are located; including Big Bunyan Ride, Sleigh ride, and a food court.

Bosses

  • Krampus - An anti-Santa with reindeer antlers on his head and claws for hands. Lives in a christmas tree and chases you around a snowy field. He is perhaps the strongest boss when it comes to physical attacks and does not tire or injure easily.

Freak Show

A two part level. The first part is the freak show itself, complete with deformed zombies. The second part is a dungeon ride with many torture devices.

Bosses

  • Eyeclops - A monster with eyes all over its body and swords for weapons.
  • Junior - The most disturbing boss in the game. A giant baby that pukes, kicks, and chases the player.
  • Deaddy - If a lot of people are sickened or offended by killing a giant baby, arcade workers can open up the game and press a button that will replace Junior with a giant teddy bear named Deaddy. Uses the same tactics as Junior.

The Big Top

The final showdown with the main villain Baron Von Tokkentaker and the flying Jester head, Umlaut. Battle clowns, mimes, and other big top carnies.

Bosses

  • Umlaut - The flying jester head which the player fed the token to.
  • Baron Von Tokkentaker - The main villain, owner of CarnEvil.
