Camas County is a county located in the state of Idaho. As of 2000, the population is 991. The county seat is Fairfield6. It is the state's smallest county in terms of population.
Camas County was created by the Idaho Legislature on February 6, 1917 by a partition of Blaine County. It is named for a lily-like bulb found in the region used as a food source by native Americans and settlers.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,795 km² (1,079 mi²). 2,784 km² (1,075 mi²) of it is land and 11 km² (4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.38% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 95.16% White, 1.21% Black or African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.91% from other races, and 2.22% from two or more races. 5.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 396 households out of which 30.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.20% are married couples living together, 4.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.50% are non-families. 22.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 2.92.
