Cal can mean multiple things:
- Cal is the nickname (short for California) of the University of California, Berkeley, dating from the days when it was the only University of California campus (1868-1927), prior to the creation of UCLA. It is still frequently used for the U.C. Berkeley sports teams.
- Cal is shorthand for referring to the state of California, as with nicknames such as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or Cal State Long Beach.
- cal is abbreviation of calorie, unit of energy. Used mainly by nutritionists, as scientific measurement adopted the joule in its place.
calis a standard progam on Unix that prints an ASCII calendar of the current month or year. See cal (program).- Cal is one of the short stories in Gold: The Final Science Fiction Collection by Isaac Asimov. The protagonist of the story is a robot of the same name.
- Cal is also a novel by Bernard MacLaverty.
- CAL is an acronymn commonly used to refer to the Cyberathlete Amateur League.
- Cal is a shortened form of the given names Calvin, Calum and Callum.
- CAL was a JOSS-like programming language.
- Cal is an alternative designation of the Caló language.
