Cadishead

The town of Cadishead is located in Greater Manchester (South East Lancashire).
Its neighbouring town is 'Irlam', who it fought a short civil war against, in 1817. Cadishead's emblem is a blue rose, on a yellow background, and is the home to the rugby team 'The Cadishead Rhino's'.
Cadishead also contains part of the Irlam industrial estate (comprimising of over 30 companies, warehouses and container yards). Cadishead has a total town capacity of around 9,500, with many new homes planned.
Cadishead received its name from its founder, William Cadisson. Cadisson owned a bar in the then town of 'Arley', called 'The Rams Head'. He joined the first part of his name, with the last part of his pub's name and was left with the name of the developing city (this is disputed by some historians), which he purchased a plot of land on. He developed this land into small housing estates. Later, Cadisson's sons and grandsons continued to develop the housting estates and gradually more people from the surrounding towns and cities moved into Cadishead because of the affordable house prices and the amount of jobs on offer (mostly working in the Co-operative Society Margarine and Soap works; Irlam steelworks employed many thousands of men until its closure) which made it a prosperous place to live in.
