Buggenhout is a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Buggenhout proper, Opdorp, and Opstal. On January 1 2004 Buggenhout had a total population of 13,707 (6,790 males and 6,917 females). The total area is 25.25 square kilometres, which gives a population density of 542.78 inhabitants per square kilometre.
