Brussels Parliament

The Council of the Region of Brussels-Capital, or Brussels Regional Parliament (French: Conseil de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale or Parlement Bruxellois, Dutch: Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Parlement or Brusselse Hoofdstedelijke Raad), is the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region, one of the three regions of Belgium.

Elections
Elections of 75 Brussels regional deputies take place every five years[1] (http://www.parlbru.irisnet.be/en/parleme/election.htm). Here is the list of past regional elections:
- June 18, 1989 (first elections)
- May 21, 1995, coincided with the federal legislative elections;
- June 13, 1999
- June 13, 2004, coincided with the European Parliament elections.
Functions
The Brussels Parliament role mainly consists in controlling the government of the Brussels-Capital region, approving the budget and creating and passing laws[2] (http://www.parlbru.irisnet.be/en/parleme/fonction.htm).
