Britton is a village located in Lenawee County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 699.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²). 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. Britton is located on the M-50, about nine miles northeast of Adrian, along an active railroad. The main industries are agriculture and small business.
History
The village was originally called Balch and was established after the Wabash Railroad built a station there in 1881. A local storekeeper in charge of the post office, John Britton, paid $500 to rename the town after himself in 1888.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 699 people, 261 households, and 196 families residing in the village. The population density is 310.2/km² (799.6/mi²). There are 268 housing units at an average density of 118.9/km² (306.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.71% White, 0.72% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.72% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. 2.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 261 households out of which 42.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% are non-families. 21.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.14.
In the village the population is spread out with 29.8% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.4 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $49,091, and the median income for a family is $50,703. Males have a median income of $39,861 versus $26,000 for females. The per capita income for the village is $18,087. 7.3% of the population and 7.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.4% of those under the age of 18 and 7.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
