British Salonika Army
|
The British Salonika Army was formed in Salonika in October 1915 to oppose Bulgarian advances in the region. It became a full General Headquarters (GHQ) in January 1917. The army was originally commanded by General Sir Charles Monro, who had taken over command of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force in the last stages of the Gallipoli campaign. The army eventually comprised two corps.
