Bristol-Myers Squibb Template:Nyse, colloquially referred to as BMS, is a pharmaceutical corporation, formed by a 1989 merger between pharmaceutical companies Bristol-Myers Company and Squibb Corporation. Its Chairman and CEO are Peter R. Dolan, and it is headquartered in New York City. Its primary R&D sites are located in New Jersey and Connecticut, with other sites around the US and other countries.
The company was involved in an accounting scandal in 2002. Bristol-Myers Squibb is on the Forbes 500 list.
BMS is known partially for the fact that Lance Armstrong has appeared in several of the company's marketing campaigns. This is due to the fact that the company helped to combat Armstrong's testicular cancer

Taxol
At one time, BMS held the solitary contract to harvest the bark of endangered yew trees on United States territory for the manufacture of chemotherapy drug paclitaxel (TaxolŽ). Current paclitaxel production comes from renewable sources. BMS also held the original pacitaxel license, but there are now multiple generic producers.
