Politics and history of the constituency
While as interesting as any other part of London, it was the former constituency of Ken Livingstone and it notably returned a Liberal Democrat MP, Sarah Teather, in a September 2003 by-election on a 29% swing from Labour to the Lib Dems. Because it was won by Labour at the previous General Election it is considered as a Labour seat for gain / loss purposes and is therefore a target seat for the LibDems.
