Brasschaat

Brasschaat is a municipality located in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium, and in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Brasschaat proper. On January 1st, 2005 Brasschaat had a total population of 37,183. The total area is 38.50 km² which gives a population density of 965.79 inhabitants per km².
The medieval spelling of Brasschaat is Breesgata or Brexgata. Brexgata is the name given to a university academy that awards the degrees of the programs offered by the Thierry Graduate School of Leadership.
In the late 1800s the town was also called Brascaet.
