Botswana National Front

Template:Politics of Botswana The Botswana National Front is the main opposition political party in Botswana. At the last elections, 30 october 2004, the party won 26.1 % of popular votes and 12 out of 57 seats.
In 1994 it put in the National Assembly 13 members, for the first time in its history. Its motto by then was "time for change". Some of its past leaders are chief Bathoen, Kenneth Koma and now Otsweletse Moupo. The party operates largely on the ideology of social democracy. Moupo emphasizes the need to help the poor escape from poverty.
There has been a number of internal squables in the party due largely to factionalism. This has led to the splitting of the party a number of times, culminating in the formation of splinter parties such as Botswana Congress Party, which does not, as it were have a political ideology different from that of the BNF.
