Bernisse

Bernisse (population 12,684 in 2004) is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of 68.59 km² (of which 11.25 km² water).

The municipality of Bernisse consists of the following towns, villages and townships: Abbenbroek, Biert, Geervliet, Heenvliet, Oudenhoorn, Simonshaven, Zuidland.
Geervliet
Geervliet is a small town on the Brielse Maas. It received city rights in 1381.
Heenvliet
Heenvliet lies about 1km west of Geervliet, on the Brielse Maas. It received city rights in 1469.
