Belphegor

In demonology, Belphegor (or Beelphegor) is a demon who helps people to make discoveries. He seduces people by suggesting to them ingenious inventions that will make them rich. According to some 16th century demonologists his power is stronger in April. Bishop and witch-hunter Peter Binsfeld believed that Belphegor tempts by means of laziness. De Plancy claimed that Belphegor was Hell's ambassador to France.
He is sometimes depicted as a beautiful woman, and sometimes as a horrible naked and horned man with claws instead of hands and a hairy beard.
When summoned, he can grant riches, the power of discovery and ingenious invention. His role as a demon was to sow discord among men and he seduced them to evil through the apportionment of wealth. He is difficult to conjure, perhaps because his sacrificial offering is excrement.
He appears in John Milton's 'Paradise Lost' and Victor Hugo's 'The Toilers of the Sea'..
His name comes from that of the Semitic god Baal Peor.

Belphegor is also the name of an Austrian death black metal band who have released ten albums since their formation in 1993-Bloodbath in Paradise (1993), Obscure and Deep (1994), The Last Supper (1995), Blutsabbath (1997), a re-release of The Last Supper (1999), Necrodaemon Terrorsathan (2000), Infernal Live Orgasm (2002), Lucifer Incestus (2004), The Last Supper '95 & Blutsabbath '97 (2004), and Goatreich-Fleshcult (2004).
