Bear Creek Township is a township located in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 5,269.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 118.5 km² (45.8 mi²). 102.6 km² (39.6 mi²) of it is land and 16.0 km² (6.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 13.48% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,269 people, 2,001 households, and 1,416 families residing in the township. The population density is 51.4/km² (133.0/mi²). There are 2,969 housing units at an average density of 28.9/km² (75.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 96.32% White, 0.09% African American, 1.73% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.23% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,001 households out of which 36.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% are non-families. 23.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.07.
In the township the population is spread out with 27.5% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.9 males.
