Basile is a town located in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,660.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,660 people, 629 households, and 417 families residing in the town. The population density is 562.2/km² (1,455.5/mi²). There are 696 housing units at an average density of 235.7/km² (610.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 81.08% White, 17.83% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.54% from two or more races. 1.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 629 households out of which 34.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% are married couples living together, 14.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% are non-families. 30.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.20.
