Barry Sheerman

Barry Sheerman (born 17 August 1940) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He is Labour and Co-operative member of Parliament for Huddersfield, and was first elected in 1979.
Before entering parliament, Sheerman was a lecturer in American Studies at the University of Wales, Swansea 1966-79. He served as a member of Labour's frontbench team for many years, then was a high-profile chair of the Education and Skills select committee.
