Bark (disambiguation)
|
The word bark has several meanings:
- Bark is a general term for the outer layer of a plant stem. However, the term is not always used in the same way. One more precise definition would be all tissue outside the vascular cambium regardless of its composition. Or all secondary tissue in dicotyledons external to the wood (xylem). The latter includes the vascular cambium, the first not.
- The vocalizations of some animals, such as dogs, foxes and sea lions, are called barks. See also: Chirp.
- A bark (also barque) is a type of ship, characterized by its sail-plan.
