Template:Infobox Company Baltimore Technologies is an internet security firm founded in the late 1970s by Michael Purser. It soared in value during the internet boom and became a FTSE 250 firm with a value in excess of a billion pounds sterling. However, lacking any real profits and the Stockmarket Crash of March 2000, its value plummeted from £5.5bn to less than its net cash figure of about £30m.
Sarah Flannery who discovered the now infamous Caley-Purser Algorothim did so after a short internship with the company. The Algorithm is named after the companies founder.
The name does not come from the State capital of Maryland in The United States, as is popular belief but from Baltimore Island in Co. Cork where a friend of Purser's had bought a house about the same time as the company was relaunched.
It emerged in December 2004, that the company is to be taken private in February 2005.
