Augmented Backus-Naur form

The Augmented Backus-Naur form (ABNF) extends the Backus-Naur form. It is documented in RFC 2234 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2234.html) which is a reworking of the information in RFC 733 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc733.html) and RFC 822 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc822.html), and often serves for the definition of IETF communication protocols, such as SIP and HTTP.
