Article generally refers to a certian class of artifact. The word has other meanings.
Literature
- In grammar: a specific particle of speech. See Article (grammar).
- In publishing, an article can be a nonfictional prose that is an independent part of a publication such as in a book, journal, magazine, or newspaper. In this sense, an article is a piece of writing or essay on a topic.
- In an encyclopedia, an article is a separated piece of content that meets whatever criteria the overall work uses. An example is the article, What is a Wikipedia article?
Other uses
- In medicine, an article is a joint between two bones (as in "articulation").
- In law, an article is a independent section of a legal document (as a statute or contract or will)
