Arbok (アーボック Ābokku), (like its pre-evolved form, Ekans) is a fictional character from the Pokémon franchise. It is a Poison-type snake Pokémon. Similar to the cobra, it has big warning markings on the "hood" around its head.

Name origin

The name Arbok comes from the word cobra spelled backwards, with the letter C replaced by a K.

Information

It is rumored that the ferocious warning markings on its belly differ from area to area. Transfixing prey with the face-like pattern on its belly and making eerie sounds by expelling air from its mouth, it binds and poisons the frightened victim. With a very vengeful nature, it will not give up the chase, no matter how far, once it targets its prey. This Pokémon is terrifically strong in order to constrict things with its body. It can even flatten steel oil drums. Once Arbok wraps its body around its foe, escaping its crunching embrace is impossible.

The frightening patterns on its belly have been studied. Six variations have been confirmed.

Arbok is used by Agatha of the Elite Four.

Anime Appearances

In the Pokémon Anime, one of the things Jessie's Arbok is used for is its ability to spit acid, among other things. Its Poison Sting attack is used by Jessie almost every time she uses Arbok during the anime. Later in the anime, Jessie releases Arbok along with James's Weezing to defend an unevolved herd of Ekans and Koffing from poachers.it:Arbok
