- The United States of America has not had an ambassador to the United Kingdom since the resignation of William Farish on July 10, 2004. The Chargé d'Affaires ad interim is David T. Johnson. [1] (http://www.usembassy.org.uk/ukamb/farishbio.html). Rumours in late January 2005 identified Mercer Reynolds as a likely appointee.

- Due to security concerns the United States Embassy to Tajikistan operates from Almaty, Kazakhstan
- The United States of America does not currently have nor do they maintain diplomatic relations with the Republic of Cuba. U.S. Interests in the Republic of Cuba are handled by the U.S. Interests section of the Embassy of Switzerland in Havana.
