- in construction, an aggregate (composite), the component of a composite material used to resist compressive stress. For efficient filling, aggregate should be much smaller than the finished item, but have a wide variety of sizes. For example, aggregate (most commonly stone of sand- and gravel-sized particles) is added to cement to make concrete, and is added to asphalt to make asphalt concrete.
- in counting, a collection of units, such as an aggregate flower (a type of inflorescence called a head); also the whole or sum total, as in aggregate score.
- in music, the full chromatic scale of twelve equal tempered pitches. See total chromatic and combinatoriality.
- in rocketry, the Aggregate series was a set of experimental rocket designs developed in Nazi Germany.
